Step by step on how to install the Engine Skid Plate on the 1st Gen Bronco Sport.

- Start by flipping over the skid and placing the access door in place so the mounting holes line up. (Can only face one way)
- Using 4 button heads and washers tighten the access door into place.
- Align the side brackets with the mounting holes
- Using 5 button heads, washers, and nuts lightly tighten them into the slots shown.
- Repeat on the other side but do not fully tighten yet.
If you have already removed your factory skid go to step 6.
If you have a Badlands edition Bronco go to step 5.
- Start by removing 2 pop clip tabs at the front of the factory skid as seen in image 1.
- Remove the 4 front screws circled in image 2 as well as the 6 torx bolts along the edge of the skid.
- Pull the factory skid towards the back of the car to lower it down.
- Remove the 4 front bolts that connect the bumper to the skid
- Remove the 3 circled bolts in image 1 and repeat with the same 3 on the other side
- Carefully lower the skid pulling it slightly towards the rear to clear the front bumper.
- Using the 2 L brackets with an obtuse angle insert it into the hole by the heat shield and align the end with the nut over the hole shown with an arrow in image 2.
If you have a Badlands Edition skip to step 8.
- Using a step bit open of the mounting holes on the frame up to 3/8” shown by the arrows.
- Slide on the clip nut so its aligned with the hole you widened with the drill as seen in image 3.
- With the help of a friend or jack lift the skid plate roughly into the correct location.
- Using the supplied button heads and washers, lightly tighten the 3 button heads on each side of the skid. (circled in image 2)
- After loosely installing the skid, position it to your desired location that gives it the best fit.
- Tighten all the mounting hardware and make sure each bolt has a washer.
